New Zealand
New Zealand is a country, its location beingin the south-west Pacific
Ocean. It comprises the North Island, the South Island and several
small islands including the Cook Islands. New Zealand is a country
of rare seismic beauty: glacial mountains, fast-flowing rivers,
deep, clear lakes, hissing geysers and boiling mud. There are also
abundant forest reserves, long, deserted beaches and a variety of
fauna, such as the kiwi, endemic to its shores. Attractions include
a long list of outdoor activities - tramping (hiking), skiing, rafting
and, of course, that perennial favourite, bungy jumping - await
the adventurous. You can swim, whale-watch or try freshwater fishing
in the many streams.
New Zealand has extraordinary flora and fauna, many plants and
trees unique to the islands. New Zealand's forests are inhabited
by a diverse range of animals, inclusing parrots, skinks, geckos,
frogs, snakes and spiders, to name a few.
